Our church’s Meditation Garden, which was planned for and developed by the church’s Eco Team throughout this year, was blessed by Pastor Kathleen at the end of the October 22 service.

Members of the congregation left the sanctuary and moved out to the Meditation Garden, led by the choir and the acolyte.

With prayers and singing the garden was blessed:
“We pray God’s blessing on this space, that it will welcome visitors into communion with all that is good: native plants, animals, humans and God’s very self. We pray a blessing of curiosity about what we see here and what we will learn here. We pray in the name of Jesus who came to be with us and share divine glory in human and earthly life. Amen.”

Church member Linda Greer went into the garden before the service and found a cluster of three connected acorn shells. She used the discovery to tell some of the children about the Holy Trinity: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

This is a picture of the north side of the church last spring before the Meditation project began:

This is the Meditation Garden after much of the work was done during the summer:

The garden is filled with native plants, many of which were donated by church members, wildflowers, bird houses, a bee box, butterfly house, and a bird bath.
Plan some time to sit on one of the benches in the garden and take in the splendors of nature — in all seasons!
