Judy’s Pantry, operating out of our church, provided a Thanksgiving distribution once again this year for families in need of healthy food. This was the 13th consecutive year the Pantry has done this amazingly well-organized and deeply caring mission. Thirty-nine families were served.

Amy Lombardo, Jen Tinsman, Henry Trowbridge, and Luke Lombardo
A food drive organized by Amy Lombardo and Jen Tinsman brought forth large bins of all the fixings for Thanksgiving, delivered to our church on Monday, Nov. 13 by families throughout Cape. One by one the bins were carried into the church by Luke Lombardo and Henry Trowbridge and organized by Pantry volunteers.

The following afternoon, clients of the pantry began arriving and the bins were placed into each car by Pantry volunteers.

In addition to the food bins each family received a bag of fresh produce — onions, carrots, potatoes, squash and apples — from Jordan’s Farm.

Additionally, each family received mini loaves of holiday breads baked by members of our church. A total of 74 breads were distributed this year.

Each food bin was overflowing with all the Thanksgiving fixings including cranberry sauce, gravy, fresh green beans, instant potatoes, canned corn, canned yams, stuffing, canned pumpkin, pie crusts, soups, Jello, candies, pickles, chicken stock, peanuts, crackers, dinner rolls, sparkling cider and roasting pans. Also included were Hannaford gift certificates to purchase a turkey.

The colorful and festive bags of vegetables were once again decorated by Lisa Stevens and her daughter Rosie.

A huge thank you to Beth Owens for organizing this event and to the volunteers of Judy’s Pantry for making it possible!
