Songwriters in the Woods performed its first of three concerts in the church’s Outdoor Chapel on Sunday, Sept. 14, organized by David Rogers and featuring three performers: Sav, Hamilton Belk, and Summer Bright from the Clearwater Swimmers.

Summer Bright traveled from New York City the morning of the concert to be part of the gathering.

It was 90 minutes of pure joy with the original compositions wafting through the towering trees with an illumination from the setting sun. Forty-five people were in atttendance.

There will be two more concerts this month in the Outdoor Chapel, Sept. 21 and 28, each from 4-6 p.m., featuring different songwriters.

Many people commented about how magnificent the setting was and expressed their gratitude to the church and the Cape Elizabeth Land Trust.
