Our church will hold a Blessing of the Animals in the Outdoor Chapel on Sunday, Oct. 5 at 2 p.m. The blessing is open to the public and all pets. In the event of rain, the blessings will take place in Fellowship Hall.
The blessing takes place on the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals and the environment. All animals are invited, but please leash your dogs.
The Peaks Island Ukes, led by CEUMC Music Director Faith York, will be providing music during the blessing. Each pet will receive an individual blessing.
A voluntary donation of dog and cat food will go toward filling the Pet Blessing Box on the kiosk at the entrance to Chapel Woods. Donations will also go to the Animal Refuge League.
These blessings began at our church in 2005 under the direction of Pastor Ruth Morrison. The blessing has not taken place in a number of years, but Pastor Gwyneth Arrison is renewing this beloved tradition. She will be joined by Pastor Morrison.
Please join us with the pets of your choice.
