Big yield for Saturday feast
The first church supper of the season on Saturday, Oct. 2 was a big success, thanks to bean meister Stephen Bither and all the volunteers who set up, served, greeted, cleaned up and — of course — came to eat all the marvelous food prepared by even more volunteers.
Many of the dishes were prepared with locally grown produce, adding a special flair to an already bountiful banquet.
More than $900 was raised by tickets sold at the supper with $1 for each ticket purchased going to the South Portland Soup Kitchen.
The next church supper will be from 4:30-6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 6.

A long line of people waited for a selection of food when the supper began at 4:30.

As always, Audrey Jordan contributed a beautiful arrangement of flowers for the supper.

Servers Ginny Jordan and Jaymie Chamberlin took a well-deserved break to enjoy some of the good.
