Bluegrass and gospel for Advent
On the third Sunday of Advent, the 10 a.m. Dec. 12 service was blessed with special bluegrass and gospel music, provided by Ken and Jane Brooks.
Ken and Jane are longtime friends of the Leathers, Hills, Linds and Hartfords and were convinced to play at the second service after performing for some congregation families the night before. It was a memorable occasion as we move deep into the Christmas season.
Ken, who plays guitar and sings, began performing regularly in 1965 at the Jonesport Opry House in Downeast Maine. From 1988 to 1995, he was the lead guitarist and vocalist for the Bluegrass Supply Company, one of the best-known and very popular bluegrass bands in the northern United States. Since then, Ken has performed with other popular Maine bands, including the Union River Band, Bob & Grace French, and the Rainbow Vally Folks and Fox Hollow.
Jane, who plays bass and sings, became part of Ken’s musical performances in 2004, after they were married.
Thank you, Ken and Jane!
