Helping children in poverty
Our church will begin a “Sewing Dresses for Girls Around the World” mission this Saturday, Jan. 16. The initiative will make simple dresses for young girls living in the poverty-stricken regions of the world.
Participants are asked to being their sewing machines to the church at 10 a.m. on Saturday, along with 1 yard of cotton fabric and 1 package of extra wide (1/2 inch) double fold bias tape for each dress. Elastic will be provided. Another option is to being a pillow case and bias tape.
If you don‘t have a sewing machine and would still like to help, we will need people for ironing, measuring and cutting bias and elastic tape, or just being a cheerleader!
The church will be making dresses every Saturday through Feb. 13, from 10 a.m.-noon.
