Root Beer Floats  — and more — for all to enjoy

Our church’s Root Beer Float Stand at Cape Elizabeth’s Family Fun Day on June 16 has never been so popular. On a perfect Saturday morning and afternoon at Fort Williams, our volunteers were busy making floats, preparing cones and dishes of ice cream, and filling requests for bottled water and Capt’n Eli sodas.

Before the day was over, we were running out of all we had to sell and coordinator Jim Tammaro reports we have never had such a profitable day.

Thank you to all the volunteers who served throughout the day and who set up the stand Friday night and took it all down late Saturday afternoon.

And than you to Shipyard Brewing for once again donating the sodas, to Kettle Cove Creamry for providing ice cream at a discounted price, to church member Derry Rundlett for paying off the balance of the ice cream cost, and to everyone from the church who donated money to help make this annual fundraiser such a success.

The event was also a time to remember and miss Jack Mitchell, who was such an enthusiastic volunteer at our Root Beer Float Stand for many years. Jack passed away earlier this spring.
