Music Recital

Lauren

Join us for operatic, musical theater concert

Our church will host a recital by 2007 Cape Elizabeth High School graduate Lauren Yokabaskas on Friday, July 20 at 7 p.m. featuring an operatic and musical theater performance.

Acclaimed by The New York Times for her “melting voice and youthful radiance”, Lauren, a soprano, is quickly establishing herself as a young artist to watch in the opera world.

This summer, she has been offered a young artist position at the prestigious Berlin Opera Academy, singing the leading role of Pamina in the classic Mozart opera, Die Zauberflote. Although she is the recipient of the Elizabeth Luxon Memorial Scholarship, such a pursuit requires a great deal of financial investment in order to make it a reality.

For fundraising purposes, Lauren will be presenting a repertoire of art song, opera, and musical theater at our church in collaboration with Eric Peppe on piano and Morgan Peppe on violin.

Tickets will be priced at $20, with a special discount of $10 extended to church members only. Tickets can be purchased at the door with cash or credit card. Any additional donations will be welcomed and appreciated.

Lauren said she is “thrilled to be able to perform in her hometown of Cape Elizabeth, the community that first supported and nurtured her love for music.”

There will be a reception following the recital and everyone is invited to join Lauren for hors d’oeuvres and wish her luck for her summer adventure in Berlin.

Lauren has been living in New York City for the past five years. working and pursing her career.
