Youth project for MLK weekend

As part of our church’s Martin Luther King Jr. Sunday service on January 15, Carol Hubbard organized a group of youth from the church and friends to create a mural celebrating Dr. King’s campaigns for diversity and inclusiveness.

The group gathered on the night before the Sunday service and discussed Dr. King’s life and his many heralded civil rights actions and accomplishments.

With the help of Jean Meyer, the group then painted their hands in many colors to reflect diversity and placed their palm prints around one of Dr. King’s timeless quotations: “Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that”.

The mural was placed at the front of the sanctuary for the Sunday service.

Thank you to Carol and Jean and the group for once again helping to spread this message!
