Join us for worship and fellowship
With the vibrant season of fall reaching out for our attention, so too comes a new season for our congregation and all of its friends.
“Welcome Back to Church Sunday will be Sept. 11 — a return from our summer of vacations and adventures and an opportunity to come together as a community for spiritual worship and heartfelt fellowship.
As in the past, Sunday services will be at 8 and 10 a.m. The 8 a.m. service is a more intimate gathering in the chapel while the 10 a.m. service is a more traditional worship in the sanctuary. We welcome all to attend one of our services, but also to bring friends to help enhance our already diverse and energetic community. Following the 10 a.m. service, we will gather in Fellowship Hall for a potluck luncheon, to share stories, to meet and greet, and to embrace the opportunity for this type of gathering.

Rev. Ruth Morrison leads a Children's Story at the beginning of the 10 a.m. service. Following the Children's Story, children are led from the sanctuary for Sunday School.
Sept. 11 will also mark the beginning of the Sunday School year for children from preschool through eighth grade. Sunday School is held during the 10 a.m. service and begins after Rev. Ruth Morrison’s “Children’s Story” at the beginning of the service.

Mpho and Desmond Tutu
A new Adult Education Class also will begin on Sept. 11, led by Boodie Mitchell. The eight-week class, at 9 a.m. each week in the Sunshine Room, will focus on the book “Made for Goodness” by Desmond and Mpho Tutu. Books are available at Nonsuch Books in the Millcreek shopping center. Mention that you are from CEUMC and you will receive a discount for the book purchase ($13.34 with tax). The book also is available at amazon.com.
Bono, the lead singer from U2, wrote this introduction on the cover of “Made for Goodness”: “Our boss and his daughter remind us here how clearly we are one: I am because we are. The Tutu family takes us back to the fundamental truth, showing us that at the end of even the worst day, it’s in our DNA to look out for our brothers and sisters.”
Our church choir will return on Sept. 18 and Director Faith York another new composition. The choir also is looking for new members. Contrary to your ears tell you, you don’t have to read music to sing in the choir. Just come at 9 a.m. on Sundays for practice and leave the rest up to Faith!
Sept. 11 will be a special day for our congregation and the community. Come join us and be part of the celebration of a new season of worship and fellowship.
