Solo for Christmas
Heather Connolly, an internationally recognized coloratura soprano, sang with our choir on Sunday, Dec. 23 and then graced all present with a solo of “Ave Maria” during the offertory.
Betty-Jane Shreve asked Heather to sing at our church after hearing her perform at St. Ansgar Lutheran Church on Dec. 15.
Heather grew up in Westbrook and during high school knew she wanted to sing opera. She studied in New York City and eventually attended and graduated from the Renata Scotto Opera Academy in Savona, Italy. She also trained in private lessons with Luciano Pavarotti.
Heather has appeared in concert in Russia with the St. Petersburg Symphony Orchestra and also performed at the famous Villa Faraggiana in Albissola Marina, Italy. She has performed throughout the United States, Europe and Africa.
She recently has moved back to Maine, in Gorham.
Thank you, Heather, for the special gift you gave our church!
