Piece of UMC history

After the First United Methodist Church of South Portland held its final service in August, other UMC churches from the Casco Bay Cluster were asked if they wanted anything from the church.

The Rev. Ruth Morrison from our church requested a small ornate chair, which she had seen and admired many times.

Ruth thinks it probably was a sample of a pulpit chair given to the church by a salesperson.

That chair now sits in the front of our sanctuary as a reminder of First Church’s 200-plus-year history.
