Making the season bright

Judy’s Pantry on Dec. 15 had its usual offerings of non-perishable items and a few remaining produce from the fall season, but on the final time it would be open before Christmas, there also were some holiday treats.

For all of the individuals and families picking up canned goods, paper products, cereal and pasta sauce, there also was an assortment of holiday breads and mulled cider.

And donated from what was left from a Cape Elizabeth High School fund-raiser, clients of the Pantry also had boxes of oranges and grapefruit from which to choose.

And beyond what could be eaten, anyone could take home a Christmas ornament, decoration, or wreath, pulled together by the church’s Nancy Johnson from items not sold at the Jolly Snowman Christmas Fair.

The Pantry will not be open on Tuesday, Dec. 22, but it will be open from 3-5 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 29. Then, until June, the Pantry will be open only on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month, from 3-5 p.m.

As always, the Pantry needs donations of non-perishable foods. Please leave your donations in the shopping cart near the front entrance of Fellowship Hall, or leave them in a bag inside the back door near the Chapel.
