UMW’s ‘Sweets for Shut-ins”
In what has become one of its most heartfelt missions of the year, our church’s United Methodist Women once again prepared Gift Baskets for individuals connected to the church who have a difficult time getting out at this time of the year.
The UMW refers to its annual Christmas mission as “Sweets for Shut-ins.”
On Dec. 13, the women prepared 14 plates filled with cookies, candies and other Christmas treats and then wrapped them all in colorful cellophane and tied each with ribbon and a bow. Some plates were delivered to individual homes while others were taken to the Cape’s Village Crossing and Scarborough’s Veterans’ Home. Bowls of holly were delivered to other locations.
Thank you to Kathie Hackett and all of the UMW for continuing this wonderful tradition, year after year.
