Welcoming families from Angola
Our church is hosting guests Aug. 12-19 from Angola as part of the Greater Portland Family Promise network of helping homeless families with children to find jobs and permanent residences.
Throughout the week, three families totaling 12 adults and children, will be sharing an evening meal, fellowship time, spending the night, and eating breakfast with members of our Family Promise team. Most of the families spend their days at the Family Promise Day Center in Portland while some adults go to jobs, apply for jobs or look for work.
Three bedrooms were set up in our church on Aug. 12, in the chapel, Sunday School Room, and at the back of the Sanctuary.
In addition to volunteers from our church, the Cape Elizabeth Family Promise team includes volunteers from St. Bartholomew’s and St. Alban’s.
Our Family Promise team is coordinated by Deanne Burr and Linda Webster.
