Round 4 for Dress a Girl mission
Women from our church and friends on Feb. 26 began five Saturdays of creating dresses for the Dress a Girl Around the World mission. Ten women worked on this first Saturday from 9 a.m.-noon. Work will continue every Saturday through Feb. 23, beginning at 9 a.m. each Saturday.
This is the fourth year in which our church has been involved in the international Dress a Girl Around the World mission. Over the first three years, our women created 475 dresses for girls living in poverty, including 193 last January and February.
If you would like to participate with this group, bring your sewing machine to the church on any or all of the next four Saturdays at 9 a.m. and join in.
If you are not able to actively participate, you can still help by providing the group with cotton fabric or extra-wide (1/2 inch) double fold bias tape. The fabric should not be see-through material.
Since the international program began in 2009, more than one million dresses have been delivered to 81 countries.
Dress a Girl Around the World has groups and organizations around the country, including in every U.S. state, parts of Europe, Uganda, South Africa, the Philippines, Japan, Hong Kong, and Australia.
